Hindsight is a wonderful thing. A tool to learn more about oneself if you dare to look. What I know or knew about myself before this adventure was, I don’t like, actually, I don’t feel comfortable going to new places. Ironic really when I live on a 12metre sailboat on...

OUR ADVENTURES
This is our travel story board. It’s where we share our journey and our adventures, our ups and downs.
We started the KamarudinS website in preparation for travelling in 2016. Plus writing and story writing is what I (Kim) love to do.
Over the years it’s become more than just a blog. It’s a collection of photos and words from our travels, something to look back on, something precious.
Looking back
Like when we started downsizing and packing all of our remaining belonging into storage unit. That was a challenging and time consuming process. You can read all about it here.
We headed off on our first journey in 2016. I managed to find time along the way to share the words to describe where we were and what we were doing – the good, the bad and the ugly really. Especially when Steve got sick in Berlin on a public holiday weekend nonetheless. Check out his goopy eye here.
Some truths
Firstly, our travels have included some awesome experiences including spending seven (7) weeks travelling around Spain which was magical.
Secondly, it was challenging constantly living out of a suitcase and being in countries where English was not the native language. Of course we got by and made the most of it but we can’t say it was all fun.
Thirdly, and to be very honest when I got too close to home I got even more homesick. So, the plan to travel for six months to a year in 2016 turned into four months. The hugs and love when we surprised family and friends on our return made such a difference.
Back in Perth
Plus, being back in Perth meant Steve could get his snoring checked out. What a saga that turns out to be – follow along here.
As well as all the usual fun and games we explored parts of WA and enjoyed camping and scuba diving in all sorts of places.
A new adventure
In 2018 we began a new adventure – the journey to living on a sailboat fulltime. That became a reality in October 2019 when we bought a Mood 38 sailboat in Greece. OMG what a learning curve that has been.
You can check out some of our sailing adventures at sailingmimpi.com PLUS there are more travel stories to be shared via the blog here.
Thanks for joining us. Drop us a comment or question via socal media – we’d love to hear from you. Cheers!

Exploring Albania – places you must visit
Albania wasn’t on our must-see list. To be honest we just had to get out of Greece before our 90 days were up and Albania was the closest country. When we arrived in Saranda aboard our yacht MIMPI in February 2020, we had no idea what to expect. Based on sailing pilot...

Barcelona (week 2/dos and 3/tres) – learning Spanish
